Another trip to the dentist

CAL is scheduled to start the braces within the next few weeks. Frankly as soon as we can come up with the down payment.

Tomorrow is the first of two appointments necessary to finish the root canal. Then we are just going to play things by ear. CAL will start with the bottom braces and once those teeth respond to the treatment then they will go to work on the top.

The first thing that needs to be done is a jaw spreader needs to be inserted. Then after six months of that, the top braces will go on. This entire procedure will take almost 30 months.

oh no! not the jaw spreader! Is that where the mouth is widened? That's horrible. I had one in 2nd grade and then again in 8th. Such pain!

my cousin also had to have one before she got her braces.

I'm so sorry CAL got that family defect.

indeed. that thing wasn't much fun at all. especiall if you take it out to eat, fall asleep, and don't end up putting it back in until several hours later. how can the jaw shrink back so much so quickly?

The Jaw spreader will be cemented in and will not be removable.
