I don't know how your teenage son is, but mine is RANDOM. We will be driving down the road or watching TV and he will come out with some of the most random comments. I think he is thinking about a topic for quite some time before he will allow us the pleasure of becoming part of the conversation.
Often times he will start talking about something that happened several years ago. The other day he came out with philadelphia inquirer jobs. I just looked at him and he said "WOW that was random." Usually he doesn't even catch on that he is being random. But this time he did.

Christmas
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Here at the Lukie household it was very laid back and quite. The best kind. We had a very small Christmas and I think it ranks right up there in the top five Christmases.
The hubby and the boy both received new bibles and bible covers. I had been fighting against that purchase for several months but finally relented and made the purchase. I don't know why but I think bible covers are dorky.

DenTek
I have used the same brand of dental floss for as long as I can remember. I even used this brand when I was a kid because it is the brand that my mother insisted on using.
I will admit I have tried others but always return because the other brands do not glide in and out of my teeth as well. It always breaks, gets stuck, or splinters and leaves dental floss stuck between my teeth.
I had given up trying any other brands. When I was asked to do a review for DenTek complete clean floss I was hesitant because I don't like doing negative reviews.
They will not get a negative review from me. I am sold. I will be purchasing Complete Clean Floss from now on.
The biggest plus with the DenTek brand was that it felt like it was scraping the area between my teeth, not just gliding in and out.
*This review is a result of a feedback campaign by DenTek Oral Care Inc. The recipients were asked to give their honest opinion about the product they received. Good reviews were not incentivized and poor reviews will not be censored for their opinion of the product.

It is a close race
At the beginning of summer CAL and I had a contest to see who could lose five pounds faster. In the end it was the hubby who won. He has lost 17 pounds since the beginning of summer. CAL has lost about 10 pounds and let me tell you when you are as short as he is 10 pounds make you look like a different person.
Me.....?? I think I might have to get a little help and start looking for the best weight loss supplement, because I am going no where FAST!
I know that CAL has been exercising a lot more. He played soccer and then went directly to basketball, where the coach makes them run more than half the practice. It has been very good for him.
The hubby just cut back, or so he claims. I really cannot tell you what he has done. I insisted that we all cut back on portions but I didn't think it was 17 pounds worth.
One day I will catch up. I honestly have not weighed myself since the beginning of the contest. I know that I have not lost much if anything. I will say that my new skirts that I bought at the beginning of November seem to be a little roomier but that might just be my imagination.

Annoying
I have no idea why but my computer will not let me type an apostrophe. This is extremely annoying and makes my blogging difficult. It also does it on facebook. Does anyone have any suggestions? Each time I try to type it, it brings up a little search box at the bottom of my screen.
Wonderful Christmas Present
Yesterday a very special Christmas gift arrived in the mail. Honestly I am so happy I do not need anything else. It was a Christmas card!
The card was from a very dear old friend from high school. Actually she was a parent of one of my favorite teachers. This teacher and I became very close during the year that she taught at ACS. She introduced me to her mom (who also worked at the school) and they became my second parents. They came to most of my sporting events, I would visit their house, and call and talk to them often. My teacher friend only stayed one year but I kept in touch with her parents even through my adult life.
About two years ago my mom asked if I had heard that Mr. V had died. I was shocked and extremely distressed. Honestly I had a little panic attack I felt like I was spinning on a ceiling fan.
I do not think that any of her children knew how close we were and I am sure she was so distressed that she left the notification up to someone else. I did not find out for close to six months after his death.
Last year my yearly Christmas card did not arrive and I was pretty sure that Mrs. V was probably gone as well. They were a wonderful couple and I would not have been surprised to hear that she died of a broken heart shortly after her husband.
Well she did not! She is alive and well. I am determined to keep in touch with her more. Mrs. V has to be in her eighties, I am sure she would love to get cards and letters.

It was NOT a dream
I finally found the silly thing. I don't even want to tell you that it was right in front of my face. I cannot believe that I searched and searched for it and it was staring at me the entire time.
I think that my husbands bad habits might be rubbing off on me. He is incapable of moving something to locate an item. If it is not in plan sight with no obstructions he will NEVER find it.
I am now the proud owner of a bible that will stay open. My biggest reason for wanting the bible is that my other bible was falling apart in some sections and would not stay open in others. It is embarrassing when your bible won't stay open because you just know that everyone is looking at you and thinking "if you opened that Bible more often it would stay open".

Have you ever
had trouble remembering if something was real or a dream?
The other day I swear that I remembering finding this awesome Bible on a bookshelf (or was in behind that pile of ceramic tile) in our laundry room. I remember it so vividly, but today when I tried to find it again it is no where to be found.
The thing that makes me wonder if it was a dream or not is that I don't remember ever putting it back after I found it. I remember that it was a New Kings James instead of King James (which is what we use at church).
I hope that it was not a dream but right now it doesn't look good.
My bible is falling apart, it was just a cheap $4.00 one, and this bible would have been a good replacement.

Happy Birthday
My little man turned thirteen on Friday. His biggest desire...... to have a facebook page. He is such a turkey. I love the fact that some big gift was not on his list. He was happy with dinner then home for a couple movies. This time of the year is usually pretty overwhelming for him. We always do an advent calender, his birthday, and then Christmas.
In years past he has turned into a greedy selfish child around this time. This year was refreshing, we only had one small incident of selfishness. Thank you Jesus.
