Certain Words

Have you ever noticed how certain words or phrases can take you back in time. They will remind you of a memory that you may have not thought about in many years.

"Prince" is one for me. When I was a teenager I would listen to "Prince" on my "walkman" while skiing. I only listen to one cassette, because that is all I had, but for some reason I only listened while I skied. Whenever I hear that name I just immediately go back in time and picture myself skiing at Swain Ski Resort.

Outer Banks vacations makes me think of my Dad. Several years ago, when he still traveled a little, he went to the Outer Banks and every time I see him he talks about how much I would love to go there. My Dad and I have had our struggles through out the years, we butt heads quite often. He can be a grumpy old man with a mouth that needs to be washed out with soap but I love him.

Yeah, certain words DO evoke feelings and memories. For me, one of them is "chicken legs". (My husband teased me about my scrawny legs when we were kids. Now it's become a sort of sign of affection.)
