I am trying to sell my two Oriental Chests that my husband and I purchased before we were married from a furniture store in Syracuse, NY.
I advertised the chest on Craigslist and immediately received five people saying that they wanted to purchase them site unseen. I was so excited until email number six came in and it was almost verbatim as email number one. I emailed all six and said that I would only sell the chests to a local person for cash. I never heard from them again.
Two days ago I received an email from a local person. She immediately wanted to know if I would take less. I told her that the chests were over 17 years old and in good condition and no I don't think I would be interested in taking less. For crying out loud at least look at them before you ask for a discount.
The lady arrived today. She was in the process of counting out the $300 I was asking when I said to her I wanted to go over the units. I showed her everything that was wrong. Every chip, bump, and bruise. She became quite annoyed! She said why didn't you state all this in your ad. I said "They are 17 years old, and I did state that there were other bumps and bruises although I didn't spell out each and every one." She said "I don't think I want to pay $300" I said "OK". She looked at me and said "thank you for your time" and stormed out of the house.
Exactly what do you expect on furniture that is 17 years old?
