Ryan Schallenberger. They called police when bomb supplies were delivered to their home. I am sure this was the hardest decision they had ever made in their life.
I am sure that most parents would have made excuses and tried to deal with the situation without involving the authorities. They did the right thing and they may have saved several lives.
This 18-year-old had such a detailed plan laid out. The police were reported as saying, "I don't have any doubt that he was going to carry it out," Lear said. "On the surface, he was one thing, and in his writing, he was something else."
Schallenberger was not your "normal" Columbine type student. He was very handsome and had many friends. He was not a loner. These kids are changing and even the best of them seem to be madmen.

There needs to be more parents and parenting like this. I think a lot of these kids will fall into line when they realize that Mommy and Daddy aren't going to bail them out of jail when they screw up this badly. When they understand that there are severe consequences for their actions and the parents aren't going to protect them from said consequences.
Obviously, he wasn't seeking protection from his parents. All he wanted to do was to make a mess, and took some people with him, on his way to hell.
The parents did the best thing they could, so they wouldn't have to bury their own son at the young age.
That's probably not something my redneck parents would have done. They would probably ask me if I needed any help assembling them. They couldn't wait to get rid of me.
I think if you knew the mother then you wouldn't be thanking her! No wonder she didn't bother to come to the hearing for her son...
