Wait...... Before you place your order.

After looking around the CarGuyGarage a little more I may have to adjust my Christmas list (or add on, whichever you prefer). I really like these cabinets,
and they are more for storage. The others were more for working. Honestly though I will take whichever is easier for you to handle.

The CarGuyGarage carries over 1,000 products designed for garage storage. If I could redo my garage I would start at the floor. We currently have floor pads on the side that we park the Jeep. They need to be replaced and these would work great in their place. I need a lot of storage space and the overhead storage would give me so much extra space. I have never seen an overhead unit that has a lift system designed into it.

Our business could use one of these organizers. We have a lot of little parts and these drawers would work perfectly.

One of the things that I did this weekend was clean out the car. If I have this vacuum it would have made my job so much easier.

Of course, I would something fun like a gas pump.

OK I will stop. I don't expect you to get me "everything".

People with heart failure should not take...

It is 8:00 p.m. and we are sitting here watching TV. One of the latest and greatest drug commercials came on. I was typing and not paying attention and my husband started laughing.

You know how the commercials state who should and should not take their medicine. Well apparently if you have heart failure you should not take this medicine. Correct me if I am wrong but.... If you suffer from heart failure aren't you dead? I didn't catch what it was for.

I love the ones that are for something insignificant -such as toenail fungus- and they warn you that it can cause heart defects, kidney failure, or even death. Are your toenails that unsightly that you would risk death?

Want to know what I want for Christmas

The garage in our house is heated and half carpeted (a nice indoor outdoor carpet from Home Depot). We use the one half as a game room and the other half to park our Jeep and storage for business. I would love to have the metal cabinets from CarGuyGarage.com for storage. If I had my choice, and money was no object, I would definitely choose these cabinets. I love red. The work bench in the middle would be great for our shipping table. We have this huge black tool chest that could be eliminated. It would save us so much room to get the cabinets hanging on the wall and not taking up floor space. Should anyone out there want to buy me something for Christmas…..? This would fit nicely under my tree. Any takers?

In the News?

Currently, the state does not have any law regarding peeing in public, so it is prosecuted under indecent exposure. Shurtleff says indecent exposure is a sex offense, and if a person is caught several times relieving themselves in public, they could find themselves on a sex offender registry -- a penalty Shurtleff thinks is too severe for the crime. "I think some of the stigma attached to that is greater than the offense," he said. "It's public urination and they should be charged with it."

I agree that peeing in public should not be a "sex offense" but, how many times do you have to be caught before you learn your lesson. Several means more than two in my book. If you are that dumb to be caught SEVERAL times then maybe you deserve to be on the sex offender list.

Now here is the important question. How many times have you been caught peeing in public? How many times have you peed and NOT been caught?

Moon Sand

Does anyone qualify for the $90 post on Moon Sand? It seems to always be "available" but not to me. I would love to do a blog on this. I really have to do something about the payperpost because I am just getting the opps. I am in the process of trying to get my own domain name but for some reason it is not working. I have LukiesLudicrousLore with godaddy and have a hosting account and I am trying to point blogger to that but..... We are just not having any luck. WB has been working nonstop on the issue. The problem is that you have to wait 24 to 36 hours to find out it is still not working. You made adjustments and then wait only to find out it is still not working.

Keeping my son sharp.

The teachers in our city are working to rule. What does this mean? I have talked about it before, basically it means that they arrive with the kids, leave with the kids, and take nothing home. They do no extra activities, no PTO meetings, no after school activities, no school sponsored functions. I could go on forever about this subject but my reason for bringing it up today is that my son is getting virtually NO homework. He has a simple math sheet each day and a spelling packet per week (consisting of three one sided pages). He will have an occasional essay but that is it.

I am very concerned. The teachers are not giving homework because they don’t have time to correct the work. I have been trying to fill the gaps. I give CAL extra spelling homework, and I have been trying to get him interested in blogging to help with his writing. The area that I cannot help him with, is Math. CAL is very good in math, much better than I am. (That is not saying much I know, but take my word for it he is good).

I have been seriously considering trying to hire a tutor to keep him sharp. I have seen several signs of him slipping. His multiplication is not as fast as it was last year. One place that I noticed is Score Learning Centers for Math Tutors. They can help your child catch up, keep up, or in CALs case get ahead. Right now would be a good time because they are offering a $100.00 discount on their fall programs. The Score Learning Center web site also gives a recommended reading link. Some of the books they have listed are great suggestions. I will keep Score in mind should they open a center in my area.

Now I see where we get it from

Today in the news Scary Clinton said: "I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18 if they have finished high school they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to make that downpayment on their first home," she said.

It is her plan for everyone in the US to become a welfare recipient. The problem is, if everyone is relying on the government for a hand out who pays for the handouts.

It is not the job of the government to pay for a down payment on a house, or even to give each and every child access to college. Who is going to decide what this money is used for. There are millions of kids that will never go to college or (even with the $5K) have the ability to own a house. Then are they allowed to use that money for cigarettes and beer.

Clinton makes these "stupid" statements to attract the uneducated voter. The voter who is looking for the government to support them.

In the News!

"They are treating me like a criminal when all I am is a working man," he said.

Pedro Zapeta, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, Zapeta admits he never paid taxes.

I am sorry but if you are doing something "illegal" that makes you a criminal.

What the heck am I talking about?

Go ahead go read the article. The article was suppose to make you feel sorry for this poor man but if you are like me you will laugh through the entire thing.

When did it happen?

Why do some Americans think that the government has to take care of us. They think if there is a natural disaster, the government will take care of everything. If their our child is born with a disability that the government is responsible. If their child is a monster that the school/government has to take care of it.

It is nice to have a government that will help but..... so many Americans think the government has to solve the problem. Here in NH and MA we have EEE. Now the headline reads "N.H. Mothers Demand Results In EEE Fight". They even expect the government to be responsible for mosquitoes. What makes this case even better is that these people decided to build their homes in the middle of the seacoast swamp land. These people will be the same ones to cry that Americans are having their rights taken away. They cannot have it both ways.

Our government was created to protect us not to take care of every problem that comes our way. Of course these people know how to work the system to get the government to work for them. It always amazes me when I hear that XYZ company has had a hard year and they have applied for financial assistance from the government. Hey my company has had a hard year. Uncle Sam please send me money.

Please don't misunderstand me..... I think our government has some responsibilty to take care of some things but..... if you decide to build your house in the swamp you cannot expect the government to take care of the bugs. If you have a child and that child is born with a disability and both you and your husband are doctors.... why does the government have to send you a check every month. I know a couple families who have children with disabilities and they get fianancial assistance and are MORE than capable of dealing with the costs on their own.

Why do you think that so many parents want their child "labeled" ADD or ADHD or whatever other tag you can give them. Because some of those labels come with a government check.

Score Learning Center

When my son was little he had speech issues. He started talking very late and he was impossible to understand. In first grade his teacher made a HUGE deal about his speech. She was this “perfect” teacher and has a reputation for only wanting “perfect” students. She scared us half to death. She insisted that his speech was going to hold him back academically, and said that he needed help with reading. He started receiving extra help at school and I started looking into tutors. I tried the Sullivan Learning Center and frankly was not that impressed. I wish that I had seen Score Reading Tutors they would have been perfect. Score Learning Centers can help your child succeed academically. There are times when a child needs just that little extra help to boost his confidence. Score could be that perfect place.

I was relived when after a couple sessions the tutor didn’t really see a problem. CAL understood what he was reading even if you couldn’t understand him. Finally, someone recommended that we have his speech tested at Emerson in Boston. We spent a fortune and had him tested. They assured us that his issues were NOT that drastic, and with weekly speech therapy he would be fine. Well he is now in fifth grade. He is an advanced math class, his reading comprehension is better than mine.

If I had a nickel for every time someone has said to me “your son is really smart”. They just assume that because he has a speech issue that he has academic issues.

I will definitely keep Score Learning Center in mind for the future. You never know when your situation can change.

This really upsets me.

This morning there was a case where a video had been found and it shows a man sexually assaulting a 4 or 5 year old girl. They have released the picture of the little girl because they do not know who she is and they are asking for the publics help in finding her. That sounds all well and good BUT don't you think they should have released the picture of the man on the video and looked for him as well. They do not know the identity of either. You would think they would plaster this scumbags picture all over and then if they didn't turn up anything, then try hers. This afternoon they are now saying they have a name for a guy they believe to be a person of interest Chester Arthur Stiles, 34. Who is a repeat offender. They must have a mug shot or something but yet they have run the article again and only her picture is shown. Because they have released his name they must be very confident that it is him. After all he is also in the video. This entire thing just seems very irresponsible to me.

If you are interested you can find the series of articles here. If you look over to the right side of the screen it gives you a listing of the past articles about the case.

Bobcat Designs.

Here is what Sherlock created for me. These items were totally from scratch. I gave him a general idea of what I wanted and he took it from there. The first design was put on the t-shirts, backpacks, notebooks, folders, and pencils. The second design was put on only t-shirts. I personally like the second design better but the kids seem to prefer the first. What do you think?

The school store and Sherlock

I have mentioned several times (am sure you are all sick of hearing it) that I run the school store at my son’s school. Right now we have 264 different items including snacks. It is quite the part-time job. I love it and next year when my son moves on to middle school, I am going to be so lost.

One of the most exciting things that I have done was to create a mascot for our school. Our city has 11 elementary schools and our school was the only one without a mascot. I created a contest and had the kids come up with suggestions and then we voted on their suggestions. The kids chose Bicentennial Bobcats as our mascot. I came up with a few ideas. I wanted t-shirts, hats, backpacks, pens, pencils and a few other items with our logo. With the help of Sherlock we created two wonderful bobcat designs. Sherlock is a very talented person and I don’t think I could have done the job without him. One of the major problems we had working together (besides the fact that WB couldn’t stand the fact that we were getting along – see Sherlock and I have this hate/like relationship. He hates me and I like him. Even though it was not always like that. Anyway I digress….) the major problem we had was after he created the design it was always too big to send via email. We tried several different ways and frankly he spent more time trying to get the file to me so that I could open it, then he did designing the work. Had we known about file sharing through Driveway, we would have been set.

Driveway is a program that allows you to upload files up to 500MB with a simple click. Sherlock and I spent hours trying to do what Driveway could have done for us in seconds. You can even edit the data stored via your browser using standard Microsoft Office applications. I need Sherlock to do some additional work for me and I know that the file will be too large to send via email. I am sure we will use Driveway. Some of the other features it offers are, faster uploads via the desktop plug-in, widgets for file sharing and free storage up to 2GB. 2GB that is larger than the hard drive on my computer. Amazing.

But if you know anything about me, you will know that Sherlock will have to teach me how to use it.

My son the musician.

My son plays the piano (we have posted video on his site) and he is starting trumpet lessons at school tomorrow. He is really excited. He will continue to be excited until he finds out how much work it is.
He has a great time at his piano lessons. He comes out saying how much fun he has had, but he HATES to practice at home. I think he will eventually be quite the musician. His friend received a guitar for Christmas. He has been begging for guitar lessons in addition to the trumpet and piano. I just stumbled across the perfect web site for him. Goingtoday.com is a site that sells one item a day until it is gone. The item changes everyday at midnight. If you don’t like today’s item, check it out tomorrow. Today their item is a Blackstar Roadie Rench. I am sure that when he plays the guitar this will be quite handy.
If you are musician geek, big on technology, and have a PayPal account you should visit goingTODAY.com. It is simple, clean, and fast.

Stepmom

That is so funny. My son has two older children. They are closer to my age. It cracks me up when someone refers to me as their stepmom. My husband is much older than I am. Don't worry he didn't have them when he was 10.

This idea is long overdue.

I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to get our company ranked higher on the search engines. Unless you PAY or you are computer savvy, it is almost impossible. I have had customers comment that we have a nice site but the search engines don’t think so. Now there is a site called Sproose.com,click here to try sproose where users “vote” for their favorite websites. The voting will influence the ranking and search results. Bottom line: The more users vote for your site the higher your site will place in the rankings. You do not have to pay to get your site indexed. We are working on a new website as we speak. It is going to take several more weeks to get it up and running. We will have a shopping cart so that our customers can order directly of the site. This is HUGE for a two person company. Our company name is Syracuse Semiconductors, Inc and we sell electronic components to repair companies. I cannot wait to try the service and see how high I can get our site to rank.click here to try sproose. If you get the chance please sign up with Sproose (it's free) and start voting. www.syracusesemiconductors.com is our company and Lukie's Ludicrous Lore is this blog, of course. Try your own site

I don't do returns.

I run the school store at my son's school and I have a strict policy. I don't take returns. The kids purchase something it is working when they leave. The next day they will try to return items that look like they ran over it with their bike. In the beginning I would deal with each case individually but.... when the kids heard that I took something back they would run to their classroom grab all their broken stuff and be back in the store within minutes. I sell good quality product and if it breaks I am very sorry but...... The kids know this and I only get a request every few weeks. I have signs posted all over stating the policy. Well today I had a parent bring in an item. The child broke the item and the parent wanted to return it. This parent is also a Para at the school. I was so mad. The parent knows the policy, the child knows the policy. The item that she bought is not indestructible. It will break. I said fine take another one. The item is a $5.00 item so the school store just has to eat that. That doesn't sound like a lot of money but when most items are only a $1.00 you have to sell a lot to make up that $5.00. After she left I looked closely at the item. It was obvious that the child was very rough with the item. It just makes me angry. The parent/para had no right to ask to return the item. Now I will have parents returning stuff for their kids everyday.

Travel with Dialaflight

When my husband and I were first married we traveled quite a bit. We thought nothing of hoping a plane to Mall of America, New York City, or Canada for the weekend or longer. Our business was the best it had ever been and gave us that flexibility and money to do whatever we wanted. Several times I had to contact a travel agent to help with the planning. Seventeen years ago we did not have this wonderful thing we call the web. Recently I have noticed a company called Dialaflight. They are the leading independent UK travel company. They are a full service company that offers booking of flights, hotels, car rental, and travel tips. Back when we actually had the funds to travel I would have loved to have gone to the UK and this site could have made any and all arrangements that we would have required.
The thing that I liked best about this company…… You call a UK Travel consultant and they speak to you directly and they make all arrangements over the phone. No email tag, no waiting for an answer to your question for hours and hours. You have direct contact.
Dialaflight will tailor make your holiday. They offer inexpensive flights for all your dream vacations, weekend breaks, city breaks, (or for us Americans city vacations), spa holiday, and beach vacations.
Our business will pick up again, and I hope when it does we start traveling again. My 10 year old son loves the idea of travel. When we are ready to make arrangements Dialaflight will be my first call. I cannot believe some of the wonderful vacations that are offering right now. I would love to go to "Santa's Home Town" in Lapland. Go read all about it for your self

OK I admit it.....

I am a little slow. But can someone please tell me what TMI stands for. I have been wondering for quite some time but didn't dare ask. I GIVE UP!

Polygamist leader Jeffs convicted

Just in case you didn't know. I am not sure how I feel about this. On one hand if you are stupid enough to get involved than you deserve what you get. On the other hand if you were raised in that environment you don't know any better.

Is anyone having any luck

with the 1K Tuesdays. I have missed two $50 opps.

On the way home from church

My 10 year old told me that he really wanted to move to TN so that we could go to Jason's church. Can you see us all happily living in TN. The EX, her brother, sister, and whoever else lives there. I guess you would have to know our history to really see the humor in this statement.

What does it say

about Brady that his son does not even carry his last name.

John Edward Thomas Moynahan

You would think that the boy would get further in life with the Brady name. How much of a SOB must he be that the girlfriend doesn't even want the kid to have his name. If understand it correctly she didn't even tell him she was pregnant for several months. I am sure she wanted to make sure he was good and gone. She certainly didn't use it to get him back.

I need to lose weight.

One of the vendors that we use for business has become a good friend over the years. When my family made the newspaper a couple months back, she wanted me to send her the article. I am not the speediest person in the world. She just received the article today. She called to say "Wow CAL is big and so is Lukie, she has really gained some weight. The last time I saw her (1991) she weighed about 120 lbs." Boy did that make me want to sign up for JourneyLite LAP-BAND system. I have tried exercise but NOT diet. I don't believe in diets. Whenever I have cut back I end up going off the wagon and eating more than ever. I am the type that loses 2 pounds and then I will gain back 5.
Maybe what I need to look into is obesity surgery. JourneyLiteoffers a complete program that will guide during the entire process. Lap-Band is not for everyone they can help you decide if it is right for you, find a surgeon, help with insurance, and after surgery support.
Some of way that they help you succeed are support groups, message boards, member forums, recipes, tips for success, nutrition education, and loving the new you.
Several years ago I tried kick boxing. I loved it. I lost about 50 pounds and was in the best shape of my adult life. The problem is that I was going so often I burnt myself out. Then the weight came back in full force. Then my schedule changed and I was not able to attend classes. I am just not the type of person who has the discipline to go to the gym. I need structure.

Lunch Monitor

One of the many hats that I wear at my son's school is lunch monitor. It is not a bad job and it is only for 2 1/2 hours. You just have to make sure that they don't hurt each other (or themselves) during lunch and then their 15 minutes of recess after. One of the ladies (there are five) that I have to work with is a bully. Last year my son's teacher went to the principal because she was harassing my son everyday. She would follow him around the playground and wait until he did something wrong. The principal told the teacher "let's take the wait and see approach" I heard about the trouble through another monitor and finally went to see the principal myself. Situation solved. She no longer deals with my sons grade at all. I am not the only parent who had the same complaints. I knew the monitor was like that but I never thought she would target my son. Personally I think she should be unemployed but..... She is the kind that would sue. I did notice today that she didn't give anyone standing recess and she was not stalking anyone. Maybe my complaints did some good.

It is scary but...

the holidays are rapidly approaching. I have not a single idea for anyone and even worse, I have not a penny set aside to purchase presents.

I have never (let me repeat NEVER) shopped on Black Friday. I have never been in a position where money was an object that I needed to shop on Black Friday. I am so broke this year that I thought that I might have to force myself out of bed at 4 a.m. But then...... I saw a new site Black-Friday.net. This website will allow you to purchase items at Black Friday prices, online. No waiting in line at 5 a.m. No fighting with the person in front of you for the last Wii. You can sit at your computer and get unbelievable prices.

The black friday web site will also send you an email to let you know when new black friday ads have been posted.

I spent several minutes on the Black Friday site today. They have ads for stores that you would actually shop at. I was shocked. I bet I could find something for Sherlock and WB at the Bass Pro Shops ads. They enjoy fishing. My son will want several items from BestBuy specials. I noticed that they have TV Wall Mounts. Right now my son has a HUGE TV stand that takes up too much space in his room. With the TV wall mount I could get rid of the TV Stand and free up a lot of wall and floor space. Not exactly the best Christmas present ever but......
I will probably shop the Target deals the most. Target is my favorite store of all time anyway. I have never shopped much at Walmart but, their ad had some very interesting items. They have one of my favorite movies Pay It Forward (DVD) for $3.44. If you are a movie buff they have a ton of DVD's at $3.44. Both Walmart and Target had some very interesting items for my husband's grandson.
I hope you can find something that you can use at the site.

My letter to the Editor

Am I the only person in New Hampshire that sees something terribly wrong with allowing our children to solicit funds outside the State run Liquor store.

On two different Saturdays in the month of September I saw teenage cheerleaders standing outside the door of the Liquor store on Coliseum Ave. They were doing cheers to attract attention.

I have to seriously question the logic behind having our children raising funds at the local liquor store. What is the manager of the store thinking? How about the coach/director of these impressionable children. Most importantly however, is what are these "parents" thinking?

Question?

Is it wrong to add people to your blog roll without getting their permission? Is a blog roll just a set of links or is it more than just the links.

My 10 year old son

thinks he is funny. There are usually only two reasons he gets into trouble. One-when he is "trying" to be funny. Two-his mouth. He can be a smart mouth.

Several weeks ago I walk into my bedroom to find my son on our bed on his knees with something behind is back. He is calling my husband out of the bathroom and wants him to sit on the bed. I know he is up to something that is going to get him into trouble. My husband comes out and is about to sit down and I see my son with dirty underwear. His dirty underwear. If you know anything about 10 year old boys, you know that dirty underwear means very "dirty". I know he is going to try to put those underwear on my husbands head. I also know that if he succeeds there is going to be HELL to pay. I immediately start screaming and jump for him. I was able to prevent World War III. Go me.

How about a good laugh on a Friday Night.

September 21, 2007
Clinton: I am not a lesbian
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sen. Hillary Clinton's sexuality is not the most pressing issue on the presidential campaign trail, but it is likely to get a fair amount of attention on a lazy Friday in the nation’s capital.
The Advocate asked Clinton about past rumors that she is gay.
The New York Democrat tells “The Advocate” that she is not a lesbian, according to a story in Friday’s edition of The New York Daily News.
"It's not true, but it is something that I have no control over," Clinton tells the magazine in a story set for publication next week.
“People will say what they want to say," she added.
The comments came in response to a question posed by Sean Kennedy, an editor of the Advocate: "How do you respond to the occasional rumor that you're a lesbian?"
Kennedy tells CNN he asked Clinton about the rumors because "they are a point of solidarity between her and the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community."
"Because her political opponents, and others, have used the word 'lesbian' to hurt her personally and politically, she knows first hand the stigma associated with homosexuality just as gay people do," Kennedy said. "She did not seem surprised by the question in the least and responded like the experienced politician she is."
The interview was conducted immediately after last month's Human Rights Campaign presidential forum.
UPDATE: The Advocate has published the full article on its Web site

*** Why would we even think she was a lesbian? Maybe just maybe it is because she is SCARY fugly and we cannot imagine a Man actually being able to perform with her on the other end.

Why don't we....

eat sheep. We eat lamb. Have you ever walked into a restaurant and seen sheep on the menu. Do they call it something else? We are watching an episode of M*A*S*H and Radar just saved the lamb from becoming Easter dinner. I just started thinking...... hmmmmm why don't we eat sheep.

A normal work day for a teacher at my school

8:45 arrival
9:15 specialist (55 minutes) This is the teachers free time. They do NOT attend specialists with their student.
10:00-12:00 lessons
12:00-12:45 lunch
12:45-1:45 more lessons (sometimes combine with another class so a teacher can then have another break
1:45-2:00 Recess (only two out of the five teachers have duty-The para in that class has duty everyday and the para's must attend specialists with the child. If the para is not required during specialists time they shove her in another class room to be the teachers helper there.)
2:00-3:00 Additional Lesson.
3:00-3:22 prepare to depart.

That means that during that 6 hours of work they have 2 hours of "alone" time. Now this does not include the time that they shove their class onto another teacher, have some else give a presentation, or have an assembly.

Working to Rule

The teachers in Nashua are having a contract issue so they are "working to rule". What this basically means is that they arrive with the students, leave with the students, and take nothing home. In their mind (or the unions mind) they need to make parents aware of the "extra" work they do. In my mind it shows just the opposite. They are now working 30 hours a week, receive benefits that no one else in the "business world" receives, and get paid $30,000 to $75,000 per year to work only 9 months. PLUS they really only work 3 weeks and then have a week off for vacations. I know some of you are teachers and you will be very angry at me for this post. To you I apologize "I am sorry" but....... Maybe all teachers should go into "Corporate America" and see what they get. They are not the only people who work for a living. I actually had a teacher say to me "but we have education expense". Yeah???? Teachers think they are the only people who have attended college!
The main issue for our teachers is health care. This seems to be a major issue for everyone. Currently our teachers pay 5% of their health care costs. The city wants them to pay 10%. That is why they are striking, over 5%. Hello in "Corporate America" some of us pay 100% of our health care and we don't have the huge group discounts that you do. Stop crying. Try for one stinking minute to think that the people you are "appealing" to are worse off than you. The same parents that you are "punishing" by working to rule, make much less than you, work more hours, and have 50% to 100% less benefits than you do. Show me any other job that receives the benefits and time off that teachers do.
Last night was our "Open House" This is one of the three after school events that the teachers have to attend. As I have stated several times in the past, I work at the school and know all the teachers. They also know that if they need anything they can ask the Lukie family and we will bend over backwards to get them what they need. We have had teachers approach us for some of the strangest tasks, moving their room around, power washing a storage shed, Christmas presents for a needy family, you name it. I am not bragging. I am just trying to give you an idea of how close I am to the teachers. Yesterday I had several teachers say to me "I'll see you at open house" to which I responded "No I am sorry you won't because I am working to rule" I got some strange looks but no one took me seriously.
Today I had a teacher come into the school store and say to me "Oh my gosh you were serious" I said "What?" The teacher then stated that my son's teacher came to her because we didn't show up for open house. I said "Yeah, I told you I was working to rule" She then started laughing and saying that she didn't think I was serious. YEAH I am serious. Frankly I have to stay home and try to "home school" my son because you are not giving him homework. He has 10 minutes of homework (of course it takes him a hour).
This little rant is getting pretty long and I still have a lot to say so maybe I will start breaking into weekly segments.

I CANNOT believe that I forgot this one

DISAPPOINTMENT - If the dictionary had pictures Boston Red Sox manager Terry Franconia would be listed. What kind of manager lets a pitcher give up 8 runs in one inning. This has happened several times over the season with different pitchers. 8 runs in one inning. Give me a break. Last night he talked about Hideki Okajima. Okajima has had one bad outing. Franconia said he would be benched until he got his act together (not in those words) Then he proceeded to talk about Gange. He stated he will keep running him out there as often as possible. That Gange would have to work about his kinks. KINKS are you serious. You bench one guy after a bad outing but you then pitch another every chance you get. I think Gange has lost just about every game that he has pitched in. What the HECK. The Red Sox will not win their division. They will win the wild card. Terry Franconia's way of looking at it is that we are still in the playoffs. WHAT. This guy has no idea what the Red Sox have endured over the years at the hands of the Yankees. I think he should be benched until he gets his act together.

The Red Sox - If you hate sports this is NOT the post for you.

Well it looks like the Red Sox are choking again this year. I cannot believe that we lost two out of three to the Yankees over the weekend. I have been very disappointed this year (yes I know they are in first place with a winning percentage of .592) but we have been losing ground to the Yankees. Now for my disappointments.

  1. Eric Gange - This guy could be the reason we do not win the Division. He has single-handedly lost four to five games.
  2. Jonathon Papelbon - I am sure some of you will be surprised to see him on this list. How could someone who has a record of 35 out of 38? Well the Sox treat this kid like a baby. Come on, he pitched 20 pitches the other night and then they said he would not be available for a couple days. 20 pitches and then he needs to take a couple days rest. Papelbon needs to grow up, this is the BIGS.
  3. J.D Drew - If this a Trot Nixon replacement they failed miserably. This guy is no Trot Nixon.
  4. Kevin Youkilis - He is doing pretty good this year and my complaint....... His temper. He argues EVERYTHING. He throws his bat, helmet, and anything else he can get his hands on. We all like to see emotion (something J.D Drew lacks) but Youkilis is just a poor sport.
  5. Jason Varitek - He has to hold the record for making the most third outs. If he comes up to bat with two outs..... it's a done deal. He will be out number three. I love Varitek as a catcher. I think he calls a game like no other. BUT he needs to work on his offense.
  6. Daisuke Matsuzaka - This is my vote for biggest disappointment. Not because he has done that poorly but..... because they Sox made him sound like he was going to be unbeatable with his Gyro Ball. We spent 50 million just to talk to this joker. His agent made the sale of the century and the stupid Sox bought it hook, line, and sinker. Now we will pay the price. He will not pitch well in the playoffs.

Now onto the guys that have been a pleasure for me to watch

  1. Mike Lowell - I think he is my favorite player. He is a good mix (personality wise) between J.D Drew and Kevin Youkilis. You rarely see him argue and he is a great sport. He also plays with determination.
  2. Coco Crisp - After his disappointing show last year Coco rebounded. He is an excellent replacement for Johnny Demon. You feel very comfortable with him in center field. When a ball is hit to Manny you hold your breath and hope. With Coco you head to the kitchen for a snack.
  3. Dustin Pedroia - What can be said for this guy. He is the best second baseman that the Sox have had in the past 17 years. Frankly I don't think we have had a guy like this since a young Nomar. I love him. He is very dependable on both offense and defense. Dustin Pedroia is my second favorite Sox.
  4. Jacoby Ellsbury - The new guy on the block. I would really like to rate him after a full season but he has been what we have needed. He has put a spark back into the sox. As much as Gange could be the reason for our defeat, Ellsbury could be the reason we win it all.

I have a problem...... Maybe you can help

I signed up for Payperpost several weeks ago. They FINALLY approved me the other day. Now to my problem. I am not qualified for anything. I did the payperpost opp and the CouponChief opp but that is it. WB thinks it is because I don't have enough hits and I need to somehow get my site shown on Alex. Does anyone have any idea how to do that? I have also been thinking of changing from Blogger.com because I know that some opps are not available to myspace, wordpress, blogger, and others. I have been looking at TypePad. Has anyone used TypePad? Does anyone have other suggestions? I want to be able to have comments, of course. I like blogger because it is super easy to use. I NEED THAT. You may remember me telling you how much WB had to help me get set up.
I notice that several people I read use MU.NU, but I have tried to comment on those sites several times and have been told the system is down because of spam or that my comments contain inappropriate remarks? It doesn't sound that user friendly/comment friendly.

I am starting to get a complex

I had to go into my son's classroom today, before school started, to retrieve a book that he had placed in his backpack. I had borrowed the book from his library over the weekend. I am trying to read all The Great Stone Face books, so each weekend I have been taking a book home. Some of you might think this is very strange but.... I also work for the school and I am friends with his librarian.
As I was talking to my son, he was arguing with me because he wanted to return the book but because it was out in my name I wanted to make sure Heidi knew I had returned it) a classmate of CAL's said to me "Mrs. L I didn't know you could read that book" I stood speechless (for me this is a rare thing) for a moment and then replied with "Yes, Chance I am more than capable of reading this book exactly what are you saying to me" Chance's face turned red and then he tried to rephrase what he had just said. Of course, I didn't let him off the hook that easy.

Mistake

Mistake number one: Listen to wRitErsbLock
Mistake number two: putting deodorant on my feet.

Several weeks ago wRitErsbLock said that she sometimes puts deodorant on her feet. I have super smelly feet when I wear sandals. It is really bad. When WB said she has the same problem and she found that deodorant applied to the bottom of her feet helped I decided to give it a try. BIG MISTAKE

I applied the deodorant and then put my sandals on. My feet were slipping and sliding all over the place. I could barely stand up. I then came up with the GREAT idea of putting powder on my sandals. BIG MISTAKE

When that powder and deodorant mixed it was like a paste. My sandals looked like I had plaster of paris on them. I then tried washing the sandals and my feet. I cannot get it off. But the are no longer slippery. They are just white and nasty looking. So take it from me. Be very careful who you listen to.

Something you can actually use.......

Several weeks ago a fellow blogger told me about CouponChief.com. I logged on and noticed Old Navy Coupons A few weeks before I had been shopping in Old Navy and wanted to buy my son some pants. They were very expensive and I told him he had to wait until they went on sale. I returned a week later only to find that the pants were gone with only a few odd sizes left. I was very disappointed. I thought he looked so nice in them. After seeing the coupon on CouponChief I logged onto Old Navy and SURPRISE, the pants that were $29.50 in the store were $15.00 and with the coupon I saved an additional $10.00 (on my order of $75. What a bargain. I bought those pants and two other pairs that were on sale, along with a couple pair of sweats. The CouponChief worked for Old Navy Coupons. I would have never thought to look online.

The holidays are rapidly approaching. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then Christmas. There are so many coupons at the CouponChief to help you with all your holiday needs. I found some old friends. The Popcorn Factory Coupons . I used to purchase several gifts from them in the past. For the life of me I cannot remember why we purchased so much from them, but we did. The other old friend is The Childrens Place Coupons . My son has outgrown their style but when he was younger, we purchase 90% of his clothes there. He wore so many clothes from TCP that when we would go into the store the employees would ask if our son was a model for them. He was cute enough to be a model (I guess all the parents say that but in our case it was true.) The next time you are planning on shopping online check out CouponChief for their coupon codes.

I am not the best housekeeper

I will be the first to admit it, I am a terrible housekeeper. As a family we tend to drop things wherever. I seriously doubt that I am this bad.

Elderly Man Trapped Under Pile Of Rubble For Days

(WBZ) NORTON, Mass. A 90-year-old man in Norton was buried for two or three days under a pile of debris that fell on him in his cluttered home. Neighbors called police Friday after they hadn't seen Michael Halko for a while. Firefighters arrived to the man's home on Olympia Street to find it packed nearly floor to ceiling with belongings that blocked passages. They couldn't see Halko, but they could hear him.
Finally, they found him conscious under a pile of debris. It took 45 minutes to get Halko out as rescuers formed a 13-person chain to move him through the clutter. Because of the condition of the home, firefighters treated the situation like a stuctural building collapse. Fire officials say Halko was dehydrated and was taken to Stury Memorial Hospital where he was listed in fair condition Saturday. Health officials said the home wasn't fit to be lived in, and contacted the man's relatives. Norton fire officials said the house is condemned until the family cleans it up.

Sports Junkie

I will be the first to admit it..... I am a New England Sports NUT. I love the Red Sox. I try to watch them everyday. I will check the "standings" first thing every morning. If I cannot stay up for a game, I will check how they did in the middle of the night when I do wake up. It makes my husband so mad that I turn the TV on at 3 a.m. to check the score. I feel so empty when the Sox have a day off. I am weird. I am a die HARD Sox fan. I am not a fan of baseball. I have no interest in watching other teams play. Just my Red Sox.

The same can be said regarding the Patriots. My husband and I have actually fought over the Pats. I love them and don't you dare say anything bad about them. He likes the Pats but he has never been a fan of Tom Brady. He has been a fan of the Colts since childhood. Well this house is a Pats house and you will not ROOT for anyone other than the Pats. Last year I became so upset with my husband I was on the verge of tears. He was rooting for the Colts. It is not a joke, I cannot handle it. I don't love the players individually. If they want to play for another team, fine go. I hate Drew Bledsoe. I NEVER liked him. It drove me nuts to see him run the team week after week.

Now my problem. Cheating. I hate cheating. I also hate hypocrites (which I am sure I am one more than I would like to admit) I just don't think I can root for the Pats this year. I think their punishment is a joke. I think they should have to forfeit their game with the Jets, Belichick should be suspended for the entire season, and the Patriots should have to reimburse their fans (season ticket holders) for the season. Some of you will not understand, but this is a real problem for me.

I am glad that I only have issues with baseball and football. Basketball is a hoodlum sport and I have no interest. Hockey is the worst of all. It is not a sport. It is an excuse for grown men to beat up on each other.

One Happy Dog Speaks

Said it best. Now I don't have too.

Do me a favor...

When you are out there today surfing..... Click on any and all links regarding 9/11. Too many people want to believe that we don't want to hear about it anymore and don't care. We need to prove them WRONG.

Did anyone hear about this.......

There was a Presidential debate in FL that was held in Spanish. The Republicans refused to participate (except John McCain) but the Democrats are all taking part. Am I the only one who sees this as a problem? Of course when you read the article, MSM has made it sound like it is a HUGE plus because we have 43 million Latinos in the US. Hey Democrats WAKE UP maybe that is the problem to begin with. Why don't we try closing the HUGE gaps in our boarders. Do you think that in Mexico they are doing the same thing? Holding their debates in English and Spanish, How about China, Japan, or any where else that does not already speak English. I doubt it!

Why do DEMOCRATS want us to forget 9/11.

I personally think it is because if we "remember" we have to vote Republican. Osama, Saddam, and many others are all from the same mold. They will terrorize us (Americans) forever. But Republicans have put the terrorists on the defense. They cannot play both offense and defense at the same time. What are your thoughts?

A response to the NYT "journalist"

This morning I read an article over at Bakerstreet about a journalist from the NYT that thinks we should just forget about 9/11. Well my hubby sent Mr. N.E. Kleinfield a response. I encourage the rest of you to do the same. I am tired of these people thinking that they are going to make their opinions MY OPINIONS. I don't listen to Hollywood, MSM, or my local rag of a newspaper for my opinions.

The Sign......

that got Mitt Romney into so much trouble. Are democRATS so uptight that they cannot see the humor. I love this sign. My 10 year old has been taught to chant these words whenever possible. Some college age "punk" who thinks he can solve all the worlds problems by electing a democRAT to office gave Mitt the business about this sign. The child claimed to remember where he was on 9/11 and said how can any American compare another American to Osama. Yet I assume he is a democRAT. DemocRATS have been trying to protect Osama for years. If you remember it was during a democRATS term that the entire 9/11 planning happened. It happened on Clinton's watch. It happened while Clinton was watching Monica. Maybe if he wasn't having so much "fun" in the oval office he would have noticed something was "up" in the middle east.

What commercial do you hate?

As I was typing up my Dunkin' Donuts rant, a McDonalds commercial came on. It has two very dorky white guys rapping about chicken mcnuggets. I have so many to choose from. What shall I do? Now it is your turn. What commercial do you hate the most?

What was Dunkin Donuts thinking

I absolutely HATE the new Dunkin Donuts commercial with Jermaine Dupri. This stupid ad is on during every commercial break. They have about 15 "hood members" crammed into a ticket booth. Then they have 4 guys (white guys) drive up in a Jeep and look at the people in the ticket booth with disgust/fear. They ask if they need a ticket. The genius Dupri looks at his homeys and responds with a very intelligent "Nah, we ain't got no ticket. Why do we glorify these idiots. We are teaching our kids that being DUMB is cool as long as you can RAP or play a sport.

What does it mean when......

Someone calls you to get advise on how to be a good "arguer". Obviously (in my mind) they think you are in fact a person who is good at arguing with others. I am good only in writing. Face to face or via the phone I stink. I cannot think fast enough to get all my one liners out. I am definitely a person who LOVES one liners. I can be a mean nasty Witch. I also need several days to stew about the situation.

This does not surprise me......

How will I die?
Your Result: You will be murdered.

This doesn't guarantee pain and suffering, but it will be at the hands of another. Perhaps the vile deeds of a past life will attribute to this horrific demise. Do not fear murder. There is a rare epiphany that comes from this type of death. You will see it in the last moments.

You will die in your sleep.
You will die of boredom.
You will die in a car accident.
You will die from a terminal illness.
You will die while having sex.
You will die while saving someone's life.
You will die in a nuclear holocaust.
How will I die?

The Killing Sea

I just finished reading "The Killing Sea - a novel about the tsunami that stunned the world" by Richard Lewis. I purchased this book at a Scholastic book fair at my sons school. I absolutely loved the book but told my son that I didn't want him reading it quite yet. It is VERY graphic. I would recommend that every person effected by "Hurricane Katrina" read this book. I will be the first to admit that I have no idea what "Katrina" was like but I know it was NOTHING like the tsunami. I have not heard much about the tsunami victims since. I don't know how they are doing, how they are rebuilding, if they are rebuilding. I should do some research. I do know that 1/4 of a million people died. I was shocked at the number. What in the world did they do with all those bodies? In the book it says that they had to force people (with armed guards) to help with the bodies. I really cannot do this book justice. I would recommend reading it. It is only 180 pages long. On the back cover it states the following: "The need in Aceh remains great. Despite generous giving, many families are still quietly, almost invisibly, suffering". I for one am tired of hearing about Katrina and NO. There is nothing quiet about these people. If they spent as much time working as they do trying to find a way NOT to work the city would be better than ever.

I am such a MEAN Mom!

I regularly "assign" my son homework that the school does not require. Why? Because I don't want him to grow up to be like me...... I have a very hard time with the simplest "educational" things. I am a terrible writer and speller. If I don't have a calculator don't ask me anything math related. My parents were not big on school. You arrived home, you did chores until dark, and then it was homework time. I cannot remember one time during my schooling years that my parents helped with homework. I know my dad was not capable but my Mom is a pretty intelligent person. (You cannot tell by her choice in men, however.) Homework was NOT even required in our house. If you did it great.... if not great. I thought I did pretty good in high school until recently when I found my old report cards. Oh my gosh. I got straight 60's except for my "business" courses which I did pretty good in.

Anyway back to my reason for blogging. My son has spelling homework, and it was two very short pages. That was it! Well I made him write a journal entry with all his spelling words worked into a story. I think he did a pretty good job. Check it out. I also require reading, and lots of it. I hated to read in school and NEVER did. I would fake the book reports that we had to do. I assume that is why I am so bad with grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. Now my son has very good genes on his fathers side. He is a very good student but needs constant "kicking" to get things done. That is where I come in.
