1.a loop with a running knot, as in a snare, lasso, or hangman's halter, that tightens as the rope is pulled.
2. a tie or bond; snare. –verb (used with object)
3. to secure by or as by a noose.
4. to make a noose with or in (a rope or the like).
[Origin: 1400–50; late ME nose < ?]
Now tell me. Do you see the word black or colored anywhere in this definition. The origin of the noose is 1400-50. It does not say in the 50's - 70's in America. I am so tired of this noosense.
As a matter of fact the first thing I think of is good ole' Saddam. heheheheh. The second thing I think of is cowboys (and they are not even black).
When did the noose become the symbol of black America. Go back in your papers I don't remember it being an issue last year, last five years, or even the last ten years.
What is your opinion. Has black/colored America taken this noose thing to far?

I saw your post about Christmas music. I use Pandora.com If you type in a Christmas song like "white Christmas" you can "make" a "station" of Christmas songs tailored to your musical interests. Right now I'm listening to a jazz influenced Christmas station.
Who said the noose had anything to do with black people? I'm just lost, sorry!
And for the record, the first thing I thought of was a scene from an old western. ;)
Well there is the Jenna five thing, then there is this story http://wbztv.com/local/local_story_318095543.html.
A couple weeks ago there was another article about someone who wore a noose to a Halloween party. It was somewhere in DC I think. Everyone was in an uproar.

I didn't read all these articles but it was what I could find quickly regarding the noose and black people.
I didn't hit your links above (I'm trying to get through my blog roll and I'm way behind), but there was the incident just recently at Columbia University... there have been a few others.
All of them immediately jump to the conclusion that the "noose" is meant to signify lynching of a black person - when in fact there is no evidence of such. Jena is an example where the media ran with a false story (*gasp*).
In one case (can't remember which) a black woman was trying to get some attention and she set it up - then claimed someone was out to get her...
It's amazing how idiotic people can be - if they'd just stop with the "hate crimes" and go back to having "crime and penalty" all this crap would end. It's the hate crime that has started it all. ARG!!!
Oh, okay. I hadn't seen any of that. People really ARE fools, aren't they?
