Mistake

Mistake number one: Listen to wRitErsbLock
Mistake number two: putting deodorant on my feet.

Several weeks ago wRitErsbLock said that she sometimes puts deodorant on her feet. I have super smelly feet when I wear sandals. It is really bad. When WB said she has the same problem and she found that deodorant applied to the bottom of her feet helped I decided to give it a try. BIG MISTAKE

I applied the deodorant and then put my sandals on. My feet were slipping and sliding all over the place. I could barely stand up. I then came up with the GREAT idea of putting powder on my sandals. BIG MISTAKE

When that powder and deodorant mixed it was like a paste. My sandals looked like I had plaster of paris on them. I then tried washing the sandals and my feet. I cannot get it off. But the are no longer slippery. They are just white and nasty looking. So take it from me. Be very careful who you listen to.

what kind of deodorant are you using and just how much did you smear on?

That is so like something I would do! (And try using Lysol spray on your sandals after you wear them. That will kill any odor-bacteria, and it will dry before you wear them again.

Also try using some alcohol to clean off the sandals. I have alcohol swabs hanging around my house - so I have used them before when cleaning my sandals - although mine are leather and I don't know if yours are - I don't think it would work for Berks.

You may want to look into something especially made for feet - like Gold Bond foot cream or something like that.

Teresa, I have both "regular" sandals and leather. I have stopped wearing the leather because they have a layer of grime on them. The Alcohol does not damage the leather? I actually might be able to save my $90 sandals. That is great.

Well, at least you can try it. If it doesn't work, you aren't out anything at all. After you finish with the alcohol, you might try a leather conditioner on them... I don't care much about my sandals so I haven't done that and I don't know if it would make them slick or not.

Some people switch to sandals thinking that by avoiding shoes and socks they can avoid smell. For them my suggestion is to try socks that can prevent odor and remove sweat. I feel Cara-Pace socks does a better job. I hope this helps.
