I need to lose weight.

One of the vendors that we use for business has become a good friend over the years. When my family made the newspaper a couple months back, she wanted me to send her the article. I am not the speediest person in the world. She just received the article today. She called to say "Wow CAL is big and so is Lukie, she has really gained some weight. The last time I saw her (1991) she weighed about 120 lbs." Boy did that make me want to sign up for JourneyLite LAP-BAND system. I have tried exercise but NOT diet. I don't believe in diets. Whenever I have cut back I end up going off the wagon and eating more than ever. I am the type that loses 2 pounds and then I will gain back 5.
Maybe what I need to look into is obesity surgery. JourneyLiteoffers a complete program that will guide during the entire process. Lap-Band is not for everyone they can help you decide if it is right for you, find a surgeon, help with insurance, and after surgery support.
Some of way that they help you succeed are support groups, message boards, member forums, recipes, tips for success, nutrition education, and loving the new you.
Several years ago I tried kick boxing. I loved it. I lost about 50 pounds and was in the best shape of my adult life. The problem is that I was going so often I burnt myself out. Then the weight came back in full force. Then my schedule changed and I was not able to attend classes. I am just not the type of person who has the discipline to go to the gym. I need structure.

I can't get past the fact she said you'd gained a lot of weight. I don't know what to say... Her Mama must be so proud she raised a daughter with such class.

FWIW, I don't think you look bad.

But then, consider the source!

Wanna be my accountability person? I'll start your insane list of crunches again if you do it too.

She is an old lady. Have you ever noticed that we think old people are funny when they are really rude. Plus my wonderful, loving, and caring husband thought it was hysterical and egged her on. By the end of the conversation I weighed 10,000 pounds and he was G.Q's man of the year.

If you want to get the "low down" on lap band - hit up Og at Neanderpundit.

He had a lap band done a few months ago and has been blogging all the - ahem - details.

I know Og - he's a sweetie and this really appears to be helping him so I'm very happy for him. However, just know, he sometimes goes way into TMI territory. *grin*

OTOH - it does sound like exercise helps you. You may want to consider a personal trainer as an option too.

My niece got the surgery and has lost 48 pounds in 3 months. She is currently sick to her stomach from over eating. No kidding.

Does she view that as a problem. I mean is she getting so sick that it is interfering with her everyday life. Severals years back we did a fat free diet. The problem with fat free is that you cannot go far from a restroom. If you eat the wrong thing you can be in trouble. Does she have that problem?
