I signed up for Payperpost several weeks ago. They FINALLY approved me the other day. Now to my problem. I am not qualified for anything. I did the payperpost opp and the CouponChief opp but that is it. WB thinks it is because I don't have enough hits and I need to somehow get my site shown on Alex. Does anyone have any idea how to do that? I have also been thinking of changing from Blogger.com because I know that some opps are not available to myspace, wordpress, blogger, and others. I have been looking at TypePad. Has anyone used TypePad? Does anyone have other suggestions? I want to be able to have comments, of course. I like blogger because it is super easy to use. I NEED THAT. You may remember me telling you how much WB had to help me get set up.
I notice that several people I read use MU.NU, but I have tried to comment on those sites several times and have been told the system is down because of spam or that my comments contain inappropriate remarks? It doesn't sound that user friendly/comment friendly.

VK suggested to me that I download the Alexa toolbar. Maybe you can search for your own site to garner hits through their service when you want to go through your blogroll and stuff like that.
The key is having a personalized domain name, which costs $$. WB knows more about that because I don't pay for mine, it's a gift for my son, I just run the thing. I don't really know the technicalities of it. =/
If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.
I had my own domain name for sometime and I don't mind spending the money for it but.... What kind of software would I use. I would then have to purchase something to give me the comments opition and all that good stuff.
wordpress is free if you have your own domain. My husband or SarahK would be able to answer questions.
Moveable Type is popular, but costs money. Amanda uses MT, so she can answer questions about it.
When PPP says it excludes Word Press, they mean sites that are whatever.wordpress.com, not sites like mine that have their own domain but utilize the WP software.
from what I understand about Mu Nu sites is that other MuNuvians have to nominate you and vote on whether or not to allow you to have a MuNu name. I could be wrong (as I'm not a MuNuvian), but that's what I've gathered.
Okay - first off - typepad - very easy to use. A different interface than blogger - but if you can figure out blogger, you can figure out typepad. It's built on Movable Type, but it's made to be a bit easier. You do have to pay for it though - no free option as far as I know.
Second - if you buy your own domain name and then point it to your site - be it blogger, wordpress, typepad, or whatever - does that work in your favor for these companies? You would then have a different listing in Alexa (at least that's what I've been told - I would email SarahK - she is really up on that!)
Third - munu is not taking any more bloggers. Pixy (who runs munu) has set up a new blog site called mee.nu that is free with ads or there is a small fee depending on how much space/bandwidth you will be using. You can check it out and see if you like it. Once again, you could also have a domain name pointing to the mee.nu site... a number of munuvians do this with munu (pamibe, straightwhiteguy...)
Anyhow the mee.nu prices are here.
The registration page is here
(I offer the links as they are a bit hard to find - even I have problems with finding them and I know where they are *grin*)
So, if you bought a domain name like lukiesplace.com - then you can point it anywhere and not have to use the default url.
There are, of course, other blog hosting sites. I've never checked into it so I have none to recommend. Sorry about that.
I really don't know much about MT except the "log-in and post" stuff. My uncle is the one that set it up, created my account, everything.
Definitely talk to SarahK, before she starts charging. ;-)
If you are looking for more hits.. you might want to consider something easier... like hosting a carnival or just volunteer to post for a carnival (like carnival of recipes). Also, Harvey has a whole help section on how to get more hits. You might want to consider reading that as well.

Harvey's helpful articles are in the top right of his side bar.
