As I said earlier in my blog I have been trying to read as my Great Stone Face books as possible. In school they get to vote for Great Stone Face Book in the fifth grade. I am friends with my son's librarian (we co-chair the Scholastics bookfair every year) and I want to be able to talk to her and the kids about some of these books. So far I have read, The 7 Professors of the Far North, Two Hotdogs with Everything, and Bread and Roses, Too.
I loved Bread and Roses Too. If you have a 4-6th grader I highly recommend this book. It was so educational. There is nothing better than reading a book for enjoyment and getting an education too. This book has a local flair to it also. It is about the infamous strike of 1912 in the mills of Lawrence MA. In 4th grade my son went to the Lowell Mills to learn about the Industrial Revolution. I am trying to convenience him to read the book. My next step is to force him.
I was not all that impressed with The 7 Professors of the Far North. I don't want to discourage anyone from reading that so I will just say that it was not my type of book.
