There should be no such thing as a suicide Watch

Save money!!!! If they want to kill themselves let them. Stop denying their rights.

Now I only believe this should be the case for hard core criminals.

Killer Wants State To Pay For Sex-Change Operation

(CBS4) BOSTON A man serving a life sentence for killing his wife is trying once again to force the state to pay for his sex-change operation. Robert Kosilek, who now goes by the name Michelle, says denying his request amounts to cruel and unusual punishment. A psychiatrist testified before a federal judge Tuesday that he believes Kosilek will kill himself if correction officials deny the surgery. Kosilek was convicted of strangling his wife, Cheryl, in 1990. This isnÂ’t the first time he has tried to get the state to pay for the operation. In 2002, a U.S. District Court judge ruled that Kosilek has a rare mental illness and was entitled to hormone treatment for gender identity disorder, but stopped short of ordering the state to pay for the sex-change operation. Some experts say he's a suicide risk in prison without it. "It could lead to acute depression....certainly could lead to someone being a safety risk in terms of own safety," said gender therapist, Diane Ellaborn. State prison officials are concerned Kosilek will become a target for assault if he has the surgery and returns to the all-male prison where he's serving his sentence. State Senator Scott Brown says going to prison means losing some rights. "He's in prison because he murdered his wife and we have to stop coddling prisoners, start protecting taxpayer dollars," said Brown. Neither side is giving an estimate on the cost of the sex-change operation. It is believed to cost about $20,000. The trial is expected to last two weeks.

I say that denying his request to die (suicide) amounts to cruel and unusual punishment to the rest of the world. That is one ugly heshe.

June 20th is the official the last day of school. They just notified us. How considerate.

3 Days 18 Hours

We worked 3 days in the yard for a total of 18 hours. That does not include the 3 hours we spent at 2 different Home Depot stores looking for bricks for a ramp into the shed. Pictures are sure to come. I am so stupid. I always forget to take the before pictures.

Cape Cod and a little rant.

Actually there is not much more to write. We had a great time at the beach, walking through the woods, on the 8 mile bike ride (the path is 22 miles in one direction), at the drive-in, driving from beach to beach to beach to see which ones we really liked. All in all it was a great weekend. My wonderful husband tricked me and sent me flowers. They are so pretty. We celebrated our 14 year anniversary.

Gee I wonder if certain family members will think that we made it past the 6 month mark and give us a break. It was only about 2 months ago when someone was trying to get my husband and his ex back together. You know because we were NOT going to make it anyway. And when we do break up he will go back to her anyway so it is inevitable. Mind you I have not spoken to that family member (other than to answer the phone) since that time.

It has been 14 years. Give up. Give us a break. Stop the match making and trying to cause trouble. Then you give us the guilt trip because we don't visit. I cannot trust you!!!!!

Cape Cod (Continued)

After our lovely trip to the beach we went to Moby Dicks for dinner. It was not nearly as good as I remembered. The Weathervane in Kittery is much better and significantly cheaper. We spent an hour or so in the indoor pool after dinner. It was at the pool that we decided to go see "Over the Hedge" I normally do not go crazy for new Disney movies but because of the idiots who made that other movie I really wanted to see this. We went to the drive in. I have not been to a drive-in in 20 years. It was so much fun. The son really enjoyed the drive-in and wanted to go back the next day. We didn't but he really wanted to. I cannot tell you how surprised I was with the movie. It was so cute, original, funny, and clean (for the most part) all in one. It is so hard to have an original movie these days. I cannot wait until the DVD. I will definitely purchase this one. Even though, as I type these comments and reread yesterdays comments, it sounds like we didn't have a good time this first day I really did. I love Cape Cod and cannot wait to go back. In the past I have hated going to the beach. I hate the sand and the mess that it makes. Now I love it. I still hate the mess but spending the day at the beach is worth it. I could sit on the beach with a good book for hours. It never works that way but I could. I have to keep a close eye on my son at the beach. He is fearless and loves the waves. He can get hit by a wave and go under, come up gagging and turn around and run for the next wave. He was totally in the water this weekend. I was only in up to my knees and the husband was in a little further. On Saturday both the husband and son insisted they were not going to the beach. It was too cold. I threw a fit and we went. We spent about 2 1/2 hours and both of them had a blast. It is hard to argue with them regarding everything. I will write more about Saturday another time. I have to watch this Red Sox game. The sox are winning.

"The Church"

I love when people refer to "the church". WTF? as my husbands daughter loves to write. Exactly who is "the church" you talk like you know something. Now that is the stupidiest think I have ever heard.

Cape Cod

We finally made it back to Cape Cod. We left early on Friday and arrived a few hours later. We have not been in about three years. We stayed at the Eventide in Wellfleet. I am very tired so I don't think I will write much tonight. Upon arrival I talked the boys into walking to the beach. It is a short 3/4 mile walk. We grabbed a map from the front desk because the walk is through the woods on unmarked trails. Well the hubby was carrying the map and I asked "are we going the right way" and he snapped at me and said yes. Well almost a mile later I said "this just doesn't feel right". Both boys then informed me how miserable they were because I "made" them walk. For crying out loud it is only 3/4 of a mile. Well as it turns out my husband doesn't know everything. This is a huge surprise to him. We missed our turn. Then the complaints started coming full force. We turned around and walked back to the missed turn. Again both boys are complaining and the bigger boy insisted that we walk back to the hotel and get the car and drive. I took the map and explained to him how it would be longer to walk back to the hotel than just continue to the beach. I spent the entire time fighting with them. What a miserable start to the vacation. Then we arrived at the beach and all was well. The beaches on Cape Cod are the type they always show on TV. The big dunes and no people. It was great. We all went in the water. It was cold but not as cold as you would think. We spent about a hour maybe and hour and a half and then started walking back. And your not going to believe this but the complaints started again. I had to hear how much both of them wish we would have brought the car. Then I had to get really upset and yell and scream and storm off leaving them in the woods to fend for themselves. That was the only bad part of the vacation. After my temper tantrum the boys acted much better. (except for on the bike ride the next day but that is another story) I took a ton of pictures and have more to write but as I said a few minutes ago, I am tired.

Immigration March was a success!!!!

It appears that the Immigration March in Los Angeles was a success!

According to data from the Los Angeles County Sheriff, Los Angeles had a reduction in the following:

82% reduction - auto theft
28% reduction - murders/ violent crimes/ rapes
73% reduction - vandalism / tagging
54% reduction - drug related offenses (not including the area surrendering the march)
31% reduction - domestic violence cases
64% reduction - misdemeanor cases (shop lifting, etc)

CHP reported that today was a record low in the least amount of traffic accidents on South CA freeways.

Looks like the immigration rally was well worth it. When can we have the next one?

Othercott Da Vinci

If you are interested in reading the entire article. You can see it here.

http://www.christianitytoday.com/movies/commentaries/othercott.html
An alternative "boycott"

So, what can we as Christians do in response to the release of this movie?
Some are suggesting a protest. But the problem with this option is that it doesn't work. Any publicity is good publicity. Protests not only fuel the box office, they make all Christians look like idiots. And protests and boycotts do nothing to help shape the decisions being made right now about what movies Hollywood will make in the next few years. (Or they convince Hollywood to make *more* movies that will provoke Christians to protest, which will drive the box office up.)
Some suggest that we simply ignore the movie. But the problem with this option is that the box office is a ballot box. The only people whose votes are counted are those who buy tickets; if you stay home, you have thrown your vote away, and you do nothing to shape the Hollywood decision-making process regarding what movies will make it to the big screen. Some suggest that we go see the movie so we can be better prepared to discuss it, to "engage the culture," so to speak. But if you've read this far, you already know how I feel about this. The problem with this option: No one's listening. They think they know what we're going to say already.
But I'd like to offer another option. On DVC's opening weekend—May 19-21—you should go to the movies. Just go to another movie. That's your way of casting your vote, the only vote Hollywood recognizes: The power of cold hard cash laid down on a box office window on opening weekend.Use your vote. Don't throw it away. Vote for a movie other than DVC. If enough people do it, the powers that be will notice. The major studio movie scheduled for release against DVC is the DreamWorks animated feature Over the Hedge. The trailers look fun, and you can take your kids. And your friends. And their friends. In fact, let's all go see it.Let's rock the box office in a way no one expects—without protests, without boycotts, without arguments, without rancor. Let's show up at the box office ballot box and cast our votes. And buy some popcorn, too.As for The Da Vinci Code, don't go see this stupid movie. Don't pay money to have the insidious lies of the enemy introduced into your heart and mind. Let's "othercott" DVC on May 19 by going to see Over the Hedge instead.

DA VINCI

The following is an article about othercotting The Da Vinci Code. It is very interesting. Even if you don't want to go to the movies. BUY A TICKET to another movie. We have plans for the weekend that do not include a movies but if there is a theater close by I will be purchasing three or more tickets. I don't have time to fully blog about this so this is the best you are going to get.

We have school

Yes we have school today. We drove around for a few minutes that morning trying to see things. Nothing in the Nashua area looks out of sorts. The towns both North and South were hit hard. Nashua is literally built on a hill. The rivers that run through the town all have these huge banks. It would take a Noah flood to harm us. The reason we were closed yesterday is because we became the area shelter. I think today they have just closed off the part of the school that is holding the flood victims.

Thank God we live on the tallest hill in Nashua

We are getting rain, rain, and more rain. How much rain you ask. We have no school today. I keep looking out the window and seeing the pretty river and thinking about the poor people who live in the gully at the bottom of this hill. I might take a drive later and see how they are doing.

Love Sac

You might remember a while back I told ya'll I purchased a bean bag chair. It is huge, 7 feet, and it takes up the entire living room. It is the best shade of red. I am not a big red fan but I love the shade of this chair. I love it. I have slept on the sac many, many nights. There are certain times that I must sleep sitting up. Whether it is my back, allergies, or an "attack" This chair is perfect for that. It is also helping in my quest to lose some weight. How you ask? Well you cannot eat on the chair. What a mess it would be if you did. So if you want to sit in the chair you cannot eat. I tend to be a non stop eater after dinner.

The three of us can fit very comfortably in the chair at the same time. Though most of the time it is just me in the chair. Every once in a while my hubby will join me.

Books

I read a lot. You would think that would make me a better speller and slightly smarter but it doesn't. Go figure. I think I will start recommending some of the books. I don't like books that have a ton of language or sex in them. I don't want to blush while reading it. My Mom was always big on romance books. Now I wonder how much sex (some go into incredible detail) was in the books she just couldn't seem to put down. I go through stages as to what authors I read. In the past Danielle Steele was my favorite but she can be very good or very boring. I like the books that she wrote with history in them. I am not a history buff but I do feel like I learned something while reading those. I also was a big fan of Mary Higgins Clark. But like Danielle I became bored with her. Lately I have been reading Christian Novels. Wow some of them are quite the joke. Don't be fooled. A Christian Novel means nothing. I thought they would be about God and people who know God or would know God. No! They are just not filled with the language and sex. We visit the local library. I love it. I never thought I would be the library type. In the past I have always preferred to purchase my books. Why? You read them once and most of the time never again. The only way I will purchase a book in the future is if I cannot find it at the library.

Serious

Actually it is Sirius but that is ok. Several weeks ago we purchased a new Jeep. One of the perks was a free year of Sirius radio. I signed up of course, knowing full well that my cheap husband (he is cheap about some things and very extravagant about others) wouldn't more than the year that was free. They offered a second year at a very discounted price but did not take them up on the offer. He was not going to like the radio anyway. Well.... He loves it and so do I except for the fact that he has determined that some old fogy station is his favorite. Now we are going to have to purchase the system for the Jeep and he also decided the other day he wants the portable system so he can have it outside for yard work. We are a family on the leading edge of technology let me tell you. When you have the service in your car you get the internet free. It is very good. I hope they add more stations soon. I would like a modern swing. If you are interested the web site is www.sirius.com I highly recommend it!

Whoopie Pies

I was watching Phantom Gourmet one Sunday morning and the food topic actually caught my interest. Whoopie Pies (referred to as WP for the remainder of the post) The Phantom was on the search for the best WP in New England. He stated his top five choices. Number one was www.wickedwhoopies.com. Of course, because I absolutely LOVE WP's so, I logged on to their web site Sunday night. I carefully selected the Pumpkin and Regular variety pack. Placed my order and was very excited that come Monday morning they would be shipping and I would have them Tuesday. Well........ Monday arrived with a bang. I got sick at about 2 a.m. Monday I only got out of bed to... ya know. Tuesday arrived and so did the WP's. I could even look at them. The thought sent me running for my puke bucket. I don't know about you but I hate to throw up in the toilet. Even when I am not sick sticking my head in the toilet makes me want to throw up. And I don't mean to imply that my toilet is dirty. I am not the best housekeeper in the world but I cannot stand a stinky toilet. So my wonderful WP's just sat. Wednesday I felt a little better and consumed 1/2 of a pie. It was wonderful but because I still was not well I didn't really enjoy the pie. Wednesday night I enjoyed that pie even less the second time around. It was so bad. I thought I would never eat WP's again. I was sick (over the thought of spending so much money on the WP's and I wouldn't even be able to eat them). On Thursday I again spent most of the day close to my bucket. I forgot to mention that this all happened on the week that my son was on "vacation" What a vacation. I felt bad for him because he was sick to start, but then to have mom sick the rest of the time, we didn't get to go do fun things together. On Friday I was much better and I forced myself to eat a WP. Oh my gosh they were as delicious as I had hoped Sunday night. I emailed the company to find out how long they last and if I can freeze them. They last two weeks and yes you can freeze them. Because I basically had nothing to eat for several days I could only eat 1/2 a WP at a time. I finally gave up and put the rest in the freezer. I didn't even get to try the Pumpkin. I will have to give my review on a previously frozen one. I know you will be sitting on the edge of your chair until I do......
